Using Globus in Jupyter Notebooks

My last post introduced the Jupyter “live notebook” environment and explained why our Globus team is working to make it easier to use Globus services in the Jupyter environment. Now, it’s time to share some of the cool things you can do with Globus and Jupyter.

In this post, I’ll cover how to access Globus services in Jupyter notebooks, how to set up a multi-user JupyterHub to use Globus for user logins, and how to access Globus access tokens in a notebook after logging in with Globus.

Updates to Globus Privacy Notice to Align with the GDPR

As you may know, on May 25, 2018, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will impose new obligations on organizations that control or process personally identifiable information about individuals in Europe.

In response to the GDPR, we have updated the Globus Privacy Notice, effective immediately. Our updated Notice increases the transparency of our privacy practices and clearly enumerates your rights as a Globus user.

Deprecation of Hosted CLI

As we announced last week at GlobusWorld, the hosted CLI (legacy CLI) is currently deprecated and support for it will be discontinued on August 1, 2018. The hosted CLI has been replaced by the native CLI application (https://docs.globus.org/cli/) which has been available in production since April 2017.
