Internet2 Global Summit 2015

April 26 – 30, 2015 (All Day)
  • Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Washington D.C.

The Internet2 Global Summit showcases how the research and education community is transforming the way research and scholarship are conceived and conducted. This year's meeting will focus on the advancement of research capabilities through collaborative innovations in IT infrastructure and applications. Globus services are broadly used across dozens of Internet2 member institutions and we continue to work closely with Internet2 (and other networking groups such as ESnet) to optimize Globus on emerging high-speed network infrastructure. Attend the panel discussion on "Moving from Campus to Cloud Scale" to hear how Globus is being deployed by campus computing centers enabling researchers to scale their work.

Panel: Moving from Campus to Cloud Scale, Vas Vasiliadis, panelist

Wednesday, April 29, 2015 | 3:00-4:00p.m., Mount Vernon A (session will also be netcast)

Moderated by: Eric Jeanes, Internet2

Leveraging mature cloud technologies, campuses can provide more agile, scalable, and cost effective solutions to both supplement and replace aging infrastructures. By working together, the Internet2 members are forming a common set of cloud adoption, migration, and operational best practices. Hear how a pathway is being laid to move workloads from campus to cloud. How the cloud is enabling new tools and approaches to tackle research and administrative IT challenges. A discussion of what new challenges arise when dealing at cloud scale or whether they are the actually similar challenges to what was previously done on campus.
