At this year's IWSG (International Workshop on Science Gateways) in Australia, Globus Co-Founder Ian Foster will speak on "Globus Auth and Your Gateway: Why and How" at 11:15am on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The talk will introduce Globus Auth and explain how to use it to manage user identities and user accounts in Web applications and science gateways. Dr. Foster will review, in particular, Globus Auth’s authentication service; why it is an easier, more user-friendly, and more secure solution than alternatives; how to use it in your own applications and gateways; and how to configure it for specific use cases. He will also point participants to example code that shows how to add Globus Auth to a running Web application developed in Python.

Dr. Foster is Professor and Senior Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory & University of Chicago, as well as Argonne Senior Scientist and Distinguished Fellow, and the Arthur Holly Compton Distinguished Service Professor of Computer Science.
